Anyone who lives in LA knows the 405 freeway, intimately. Angelinos have a love/hate relationship with the 405 because it’s a necessary evil of living in this city.
For daily commuters, it feels like the freeway is always under construction because usually it is. The 405 Sepulveda Pass Improvements Project is an effort to make transportation faster and easier in LA, but for drivers today, the ongoing construction has the opposite effect, slowing things down and making travel quite annoying.
The project has been underway for quite some time. The project aims to improve infrastructure like ramps, bridges and sound walls on this well traveled freeway while widening lanes from the 10 freeway to the 101 all in an effort to reduce congestion and help transportation through and around LA.
It seems like closures and traffic jams are just part of LA living these days. That being said, there is a projected finishing date of mid-2014, with Wilshire segment opening first and the Sunset segment opening last.
Los Angeles is a dream destination, a place many people are eager to call home, so while more and more residents flock to our city of Angels, hopefully these improvements will help ease the burden of traveling and allow us to relax and enjoy living in paradise.
